A dispute over Taliban and Qatar
Qatar has reached a deal with the Taliban to resume chartered evacuations out of Kabul’s airport Why does it matter? The agreement for two flights per week, chartered by Qatar Airways, will allow the U.S. and other countries to evacuate thousands more of their own citizens and at-risk Afghans who face dual threats of Taliban retaliation and a humanitarian crisis. However, The relationship between Qatar and the Taliban is anything but new since last year Doha’s ties to Afghanistan put it in a unique position.
But some observers accuse Qatar of abetting international terrorism in this case Qatar position in Afghanistan is different and to implement schemes that serve their interests
Last December US-chartered evacuation flights which allow Afghans to flee the Taliban have been suspended over fears the Islamist group was using the planes to leave the country and raise money abroad. The Taliban also said to have demanded several seats on every US-chartered Qatar Airways flight from Kabul to Qatar
In the latest update, This year the Taliban stopped Qatar to resume the evacuation in Afghanistan, maybe there’s another dispute between the Taliban and Qatar on smuggling terrorists from Afghanistan?
The motives of Qatar are still hidden today as this country wanted to position itself as the most influential country?
